R&D skills

  • A method for assessing thermal performance has been developed on concrete block walls based on an approach at various scales: concrete block, masonry wall under controlled experimental conditions and pseudo-random conditions.
  •  A first study was carried out on the morphology of the cinder block in 3D, in order to understand its thermal behavior (solid matrix and cavities) according to the different transfer modes. Experimental characterization was coupled with a numerical approach, using Comsol Multiphysics® software, to confirm the validity of the theoretical model used.
  •  The second approach focused on cinder blocks, with the possibility of improving their thermal performance by introducing recycled products into their solid matrix, while controlling their mechanical performance.
  •  The third approach was carried out on a scale 1 masonry wall (approx. 1.2 m²), coupled with an insulated caisson to stress one face of the wall. The caisson is regulated by a heat emission system fed by a thermostatic bath, itself controlled by a computer generating deterministic and pseudo-random signals.
  • Various types of wall, from a single masonry wall to a double wall with an air gap filled with polystyrene beads, have been studied in this configuration.
  • Teaching skills
  • Temporary teaching and research assistant, supervision of Master 1 students, as part of a thermal study project for a housing estate of 18 individual dwellings, in order to dimension the heating system.
  • Vacant lecturer, supervision of Bachelor's and Master's 1 students, as part of projects involving :
    • Thermal characterization of different types of hollow concrete blocks incorporating recycled products,
    • Thermal characterization of masonry walls,
    • Analysis of heat transfer in hollow concrete blocks
