2023 - 2026: National mixed-use, off-site, low-carbon construction project

National and regional policies are encouraging the increasing use of recycled and bio-sourced materials in construction to reduce the carbon impact of the building sector. They emphasize the need to integrate the environmental performance of new buildings (energy and carbon) and the digital transition (BIM) into construction projects. On the other hand, the completion of mixed wood-concrete construction projects in design/implementation and implementation alone has enabled us to acquire encouraging technical knowledge that will enable the development and further development of these processes promoting the use of bio-sourced materials.

COMBAC for low-carbon mixed construction

This national project brings together 3 partners:

  • CMEG, a company recognized in the Normandy and Paris regions for the quality of its work, its industrial know-how and the scope of its renovation, restructuring and new-build offering. CMEG has experience in mixed and off-site construction. It is therefore aware of the industry's shortcomings, and is keen to change its habits by offering mixed construction on the panels it produces.
  • BUILDERS Ecole d'ingénieurs is a construction engineering school with an innovative building materials research unit. This unit is able to qualify new concretes and study their ageing cycle.
  • Tectoniques is a small company based in Lyon with expertise in the design and construction of wood and/or mixed-wood projects, in line with market expectations and regulatory requirements.

The objectives of this project are threefold:

  1. Off-site construction: Integrate new in-plant services to make facades a single lot managed by a single operator, integrate the company's wood facade expertise (it already has a strong command of concrete facades), simplify on-site assembly (dry process).
  2. Decarbonize our current factories by offering façade elements in mixed wood/concrete structures, manufacturing our concretes with non-calcined clay-based cements,
  3. Digitize all our industrial activities with an adapted workflow, from quotation to acceptance.
