On the occasion of the Fête de la Science, ESITC Caen's Research Laboratory will open its doors to the general public.
This is an opportunity to highlight one of the specific features of this establishment: the environment and more specifically the sea.
Since its creation, the Research Laboratory has developed a recognized expertise in the following areas:
2 days are organised at ESITC Caen:
For its 28th edition, the Fête de la Science is continuing its vocation of introducing everyone to innovative scientific projects.
Science between stakes of major themes related to our evolution and the challenges we have to take up: energy transition, climate change, ageing populations, digital revolution and biodiversity preservation.
Created in 1992 by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research to federate and bring a new vision of science to the general public. Every year, universities, grandes écoles and Écoles Normales Supérieures offer exhibitions, conferences, educational workshops and open days.
ESITC Caen will offer a variety of activities around themes that are dear to its heart: maritime and eco-materials.
This is an opportunity to discover innovations in eco-materials, including: artificial reefs made of shell concrete, earth constructions or draining eco-paving stones.
The 3DPARE project will be the star. This project aims to create complex shapes based on an innovative printable cementitious composite using a 3D printer.
Finally, it is underwater that the school invites us with the MARINEFF project. The aim of the project is to create maritime infrastructures that imitate natural structures. The aim is to be able to accommodate marine life in coastal areas.
Note that it will also be possible to discover the Canal à Houle, a unique structure in France. This vast structure, 40 m long, 1 m wide and 2 m high, a small technological gem, will allow the simulation of waves on a scale of 1/10th. This work will make it possible, in particular, to measure the impact of hydraulic phenomena.
